WOOD OR NYLON?

You're here
NYLON
Bright & Crisp

GOT QUESTIONS?
Nylon tips produce a brighter, crisper cymbal tone and last longer than wood tips. Wood tips give a warmer, more natural sound. The hickory body is identical — it's purely a difference in tone and tip durability. If you play live or need to cut through a loud mix, nylon is the better choice.
With cheaper sticks, yes — but Woodies nylon tips are securely bonded to the shaft. Under normal playing conditions they stay put. Like any stick, heavy abuse on rims and edges will eventually wear them down, but they're built to last.
Yes — nylon tips are actually preferred for electronic kits. They're gentler on mesh heads and rubber pads than wood tips, and they trigger sensors more consistently. If you play e-drums regularly, nylon is the smarter choice.

Rock, pop, gospel, R&B, and any live setting where you need your cymbals to cut through. Also great for electronic kits. If you play jazz or need a warmer acoustic tone, wood tips are the better fit.

I've tried the 5b long nylon tips and 5a long nylon tips sticks. I like the 5A better, like the longer stick for it's reach. Maybe just a little shorter taper. Seems to ware out just below the tip. Otherwise I'm liking them.

They're quite beefy, I have to get used to the x- long but they're solid and will last much longer!

Being from Ohio and seeing an Ohio made product I just had to try it. Used the 5A Longs and rehearsal and then at 2 shows and these sticks surpassed my expectations in durability and consistency with weight. They definitely are an extention of my musical voice and I'm finally done searching for that perfect stick cause I have found it.

Woodies drumsticks are great! The length and short taper provide a really nice balance and feel. The round tip also provides a great sound and response on cymbals. I feel these are the best American hickory drumsticks at a great price.

I have been a professional musician for over 60 years and have now found Woodies drumsticks. They are fantastic in feel and balance... and yes, I am still playing in the Portland area.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

Weight and balance feel great. Nice finish. A comfortable stick.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

I like the feel of them, took a little getting used to the “long” version as opposed to my regular length 5A’s, but I like them alot!

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

So far I am enjoying the 5a long sticks I just received . I have thought about a longer stick for a while. There is a little bit of getting used to after using a 5a from a different company. Right from the start the 5a long has a nice feel and balance. Overall I’m really pleased with the Woodies 5a long.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

Great drum sticks just a little heavier than I’m use too

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

The longer length feels different, but I think I will adjust ok. Very good quality...impressive I might try the 5A regular to compare.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

They feel great and perform awesome. Have been looking for a long 5A in nylon. Thanks.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

Have had several gigs and the wood has barely chipped or scuffed, great quality wood

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

Love the way the sticks feel when I play and they seem to be a little stronger than the vics I normally play with!

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

These were a gift for a lifelong friend and fellow drummer. He was thrilled to get them. Haven't heard how he likes them though.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

The best. Soon these guys are gonna rule the world.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

Great sticks! They last forever! Sean

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

A little slippery had to put a wrap for grip. A little heavier than I’m used to. Playing out with them and feel I have to grip them a little more than usual. Love the nylon tip on the ride.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

Love the feel and response of these sticks.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

Well the sticks are amazing. Very durable getting them again

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

Love the feel . I finally found my forever sticks.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

they have great quality and balance. I'm a heavy hitter and so far they are very resistant. The only issue for I didn't give all of the stars is because when I order the package of 12 pairs wood 5a long they change to 5a long but nylon tip.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

great drum sticks... very durable

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

I loved the feel of them right away but one stick only lasted about 5 songs and I'm not a particularly heavy hitter. Disappointed.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

Great sticks I’m an extra hard hitter These are built for punishment

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

When I tried Woodies sticks initially, I wasn’t able to get the size I use. I tried another size, and while the sticks were high quality, they were too thick/heavy for my style of playing. I contacted Woodies, and they immediately responded and offered to exchange them for the proper size (which was available again). After a few days of sending the old sticks back, I emailed to check on the status of the new ones, and even though there was no actual hold up—they added another 3-pack for my time. Wow, thats excellent customer service. The sticks are awesome as well. As far as wood sticks go, they are solid and the nylon tips seem more diesel than others I’ve used. Haven’t broke one yet…which I’d normally go through at least pair of other sticks in the same time period. Woodies is definitely building my trust!

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

THis stick are absolutely the highest quality you could ever want. They feel a bit more front weighted which I am guessing will appeal to almost every matched grip player .Also I am guessing that a harder hitter will also love these sticks. As a traditional grip player, who doesn't play extremely loud, they aren't what I want to use. I will love these as practice and warmup sticks and have a pair in each of my gigging stick bags. I gave one pair away to a match grip player who hits just a bit stronger and as predicted, he loved them and will probably make the switch. I think these stick will go over hugely with folk who play the equivalent size in Promark or Zildjian as I think these feel similar, if not better. I'll certainly let some other guys try the other pairs I have. I wish I could have given these sticks 5 stars but the truth is that they won't work for me. They should be a winner for a large number of other players. The sticks are worth every penny, that's for sure. Also the responsiveness and customer service of this company outclasses just about all others in the industry. Kudos to the folks at Woodies.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

I purchased the 5A long nylon tips for use on my Roland VDrums. I like the extra length but the sticks are considerably heavier than the Promark 5A’s. The nylon tip seems quite large as well. Overall, they are ok and will have a place in my stick bag.

5A LONG NYLON TIPS

Good solid sticks love the length only draw back is that they are a bit too heavy. I reached out to your customer service and they got right back to me suggesting that maybe your 7A would be a little more comparable to the power 5A that I've been using for many years.
