WHYHICKORY?

North American Hickory is the gold standard for drumstick wood — and for good reason. It's dense enough to survive a hard hitter, flexible enough to absorb the shock that would otherwise destroy your wrists, and consistent enough that pair after pair feels the same in your hands.

Our 5A Long takes everything drummers love about the classic 5A size and gives it a slightly extended reach — perfect for players who want the feel of a 5A with just a bit more length for those bigger kit setups.

BUILT FOR EVERY DRUMMER

01
Short Taper = More Punch

The short taper design shifts weight toward the front of the stick, giving you a punchy, front-loaded response. More power behind every hit without extra effort.

02
Round Tip = Clear Articulation

The round wood tip gives you focused, consistent tone across both drums and cymbals. Clean attacks, clear stick definition — every time.

03
Extended Reach

At 16.53", the 5A Long gives you slightly more reach than a standard 5A. Perfect for wider kit setups or drummers who prefer a longer feel in their hands.

04
Shock Absorption

Hickory's natural density and flex reduce vibration transfer to your wrists. Play longer, hurt less. That's not marketing — it's wood science.

05
Balanced Weight

At 4 oz per pair and 0.87 g/cm³ density, these sticks feel solid and reliable without being sluggish. Perfect for long sessions and live gigs alike.

06
Genre Versatile

Rock. Jazz. Gospel. Metal. Pop. Church. The 5A is the most versatile stick size on earth — and ours is built to handle all of it without compromise.

GOT QUESTIONS?
The 5A Long is slightly longer than the traditional 5A (16.53" vs ~16"). This gives you a bit more reach — useful for wider kit setups or players who just prefer a longer stick feel. The diameter and overall balance are the same.
Honestly, all of them. The 5A is the most universal drumstick size in existence — it's what most drummers start on and what many pros stick with forever. Rock, jazz, gospel, pop, metal, worship, studio, practice. If you don't know what size to start with, start here.
Yes! Free shipping on all orders over $70. The 6-pack gets you there easily. Or go for a Brick (12-pack) and stock up right.
Hickory sits in the sweet spot. Maple is lighter and faster but breaks more easily. Oak is extremely dense and durable but heavy. Hickory gives you the perfect balance of strength, density, and shock absorption — which is exactly why it's the most widely used drumstick wood in the world.
Absolutely. Head to our Affiliates & Endorsements page to apply and start earning on every sale you refer. We love working with drummers of all levels — no minimum following required.
It depends on how hard you play and what surfaces you hit, but most drummers get several weeks to months out of a pair. Hickory's density means they hold up better than cheaper alternatives — and when you buy a Brick, you're covered for a long time regardless.

I need more love them just waiting on Patrick to get back with me

Love these sticks great balance solid feel

Definitely durable. I love the extra length of the stick (pause). Definitely will be using these as my go to drumsticks.

Bought a 3 pack on a whim, and I'm so glad I did. Loved the longer stick and they held up really well to a Sunday morning of 3 church services! I'll buy more for sure!

I love the weight of the stick. The round tips are just what I need on the dry ride cymbal. And it hasn’t cracked yet!!

I’ve owned woodies sticks for the past two months and I haven’t yet broken a stick! I’m usually playing moderate to hard hits and these sticks hold up pretty good. I’m hitting rimshots like crazy so it has some grooves along the stick but not as deep which on my pro marks get deep grooves from rimshot blast beats. My first pair of 5As did get some chips probably less than half an inch other than that these sticks are pretty good! Overall woodies sticks are a must! I was introduced to woodies by Steve and his energy made me want to buy a 12 pack of 5a 5b 7as I’ll set for the months to come!

Been using these 5A Round Tips 3 weeks. Even though the Hi-hat has whittled the tip to half its size. There is no weakness to the structural integrity of the stick. I can still play fast ride patterns and have full rebound response in this condition? My old sticks at a similar to higher price point would be missing entirely the tip after just a week!

10/10 recommend

Love y'all need to restock 5a ball nylon tips and I'll buy more

I love the feel, and so far I haven’t had any breaks. I will be ordering more.

These are incredible sticks and I have no qualms with them in the week plus I've been playing them. I got a 5B and a 5A pair, after using and really liking VF Freestyle 7As for a while. I'm interested in getting your 7As because I like the slimmer stick with a longer reach, but I think I have come to terms with my drumming style needing a heavier stick. These are heavy and thicc in all the right ways and I'm blown away! They also seem to be easier to keep in my hands ☺️

I enjoyed the 5a long drumsticks they feel good. I will definitely be using them on all of my gigs.!

Dont mind my wig, lol

These have been some of the most comfortable sticks i’ve played with. The extra heaviness and length also feels great. Really loving playing with these sticks!

Found these 5A long sticks on a Facebook page, so I decided to give them a try. I’ve been using Vic Firth 5A Extreme sticks for a while, ever since the Calato Regal 1000 wood tip sticks became unavailable. I like the Woodies sticks because of the length, the forward weight, the price and the fact that I haven’t broken a single stick since I started using them. I finally found my go to sticks with the 5A longs. Great job Woodies!

So.. this is a very straightforward review, the packaging was just a thin bubble wrap bag but none of the sticks were damaged! I would have imagined they would come in a box for added protection. I ordered a three pack and unfortunately each pair of sticks were definitely different in weight. One pair was heavy, the other pair was mid weight and the third pair was light.. This was my first experience with the company. But, if Woodies added the teardrop/acorn tip to the line up I’d consider ordering again. Especially if the company implemented a stick with no finish making it less slippery while playing. Now that would be dope!!

Excellent drumsticks! BUT if they were made with a 16 inch length I would buy the dozen!! That extra length makes a big difference. When I get comfortable the sticks do tie up if I don’t pay attention. PLEASE make a 16 LENGTH!!!

I have played many sticks over the years. I was very curious to see what kind if stick it was. My first order was gor twoo pairs, just to give it a shot. I was pleasantly suprised with the weight and length and especially the durability. I consider myself a hard hitter to play 5A, but I still have not broken them. I already placed an order for 6 pairs, and planning on taking them on tour to Mexico.

Great balance and feel, these sticks last and get the job done!

Woodies 5A Long!!!! They feel and sound amazing!!! Get yourself a pair!

These sticks are pretty incredible. They feel great in your hands. I love the way they are weighted and they are SOLID. 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

They are weighted well but I haven’t had a chance to use them as I have just returned from a weeks long trip out of town. I like how they feel so far and looking forward to playing with them to see their longevity.

Played 5 gigs with the same pair of sticks now and I'm not losing any wood off these 5A Longs. Weight, Length, Density.. 🔥 Please don't change. I'd love to see you Ohio boys grab a lions share of that market! I'm happy to be a part of it! I'll be at Epcot (Eat to the Beat concert series @ Disney) next week. I'll try and get some pics/vids with your sticks behind the drums!! Jason Parsons FB Southbound!!

Video is up on insta and tiktok under @orion.224 Sticks feel great, just hoping their durable to last pretty long, feeling like they will! They beat up my snare batter head pretty good but that could be on me haha.

I love supporting smaller drum companies. I am really digging the sticks:. I love the feel and the bit of extra length. I dig how a new pair feels in my hands, no getting them “broking in” I am gonna try the Nylon tips next. But I’m really liking what I’m playing so far!! Richie “BoomBoom” Mendez

Solid, good feeling sticks. Not much to say other then that. Will buy again

They have a nice feel and I like the extra length.

These are my new Favorite sticks, thanks!

I’ve been looking for a new stick ever since Regal Calato disappeared from the market (and I’ve tried many different brands since, some close, some not). I’ve finally found my go to stick with the Woodies 5A long sticks. The weight is forward enough for me, and the length allows for extra power when needed. These will now be the go to sticks in my stick bag.

Excellent sticks! Nice weight distribution will buy again

Great balance, I love the feel!

One amazing company to work with and exceptional pair of sticks in all sizes

Great sticks! Great company. Only stick I’ll use from here on out in my little studio for sure!

Sticks are a little bit longer then what I was used to, but so far so good, I bought the 5A, and they have a 5B feel, I wasn’t to sure about the ball tip, I’m used to an acorn tip, but I would have to say, it’s making me a believe. Thanks fr the sticks….

Absolutely amazing. I’ll never play another stick.

I dig the 5a sticks. I’ve only played them for a week and only one show. So far so good and they seem like they will last awhile.

I love these sticks! Great weight and grain strength, as a woodworker im well aware of the imperfect nature of wood and it unpredictability but these are a breath of fresh air in comparison to the big name brand product at much lower price. Id love to promote them for other drummers but I dont have many followers who would be potential buyers.

These sticks are amazing!!!! I tried to break them on purpose even and couldn’t do it. This is my brand from now on!

Great sticks very strong, great balance, love the extra length

Hi my name is Gary I go by Gary the Drummer I’m a church drummer I love woodies sticks so much the design and the length of the stick. I’m a Drummer to where I love long sticks so the fact is that it is a log stick. I really love that and I love the weight.
