THE PROCESS

From raw wood to finished stick — every step matters.

01
Wood Selection — Only the Best Makes the Cut

Not all hickory is created equal. We specifically source high-density North American Hickory — the same wood used by professional drummers worldwide. Higher density means more durability, better shock absorption, and a consistent feel pair after pair. Low-density wood gets rejected. Full stop.

Precision Turning & Shaping

Each stick is precision-turned to exact specifications — diameter, taper, tip shape, and length. Whether it's a 5A, 5B, 7A, or 2B, every dimension is dialed in so the stick performs exactly the way it should in your hands. Consistency isn't optional. It's the standard.

03
Pitch Testing — Every Single Pair

Every pair of Woodies sticks is pitch tested before it leaves. Pitch testing checks the internal integrity of the wood — revealing grain inconsistencies, voids, or weak points that you can't see on the surface. If the pitch is off, the stick doesn't ship. This is how we make sure the stick in your hand is the stick we intended to build.

04
Roll Testing — Straightness Guaranteed

Every stick is roll tested on a flat surface. A warped or bent stick throws off your balance, your stroke, and your feel — especially at speed. If a stick doesn't roll true, it doesn't make the cut. This step catches what the eye misses and ensures every pair plays as straight as it looks.

Roll Tested Straightness Verified No Warped Sticks
05
Final Quality Control — No Exceptions

Before packaging, every stick goes through a final visual and physical inspection. Surface finish, tip integrity, grain direction, and balance are all checked. Sticks that don't meet the standard don't get packaged. No exceptions. No shortcuts. What arrives at your door is what passed every single test.

WHYAMERICAN HICKORY?

We didn't choose American Hickory because it's traditional. We chose it because it's the best wood for drumsticks — period. Here's why it matters and why we're strict about the density we accept.

Higher density = more durability. Denser hickory withstands harder play and lasts longer before breaking.
Natural shock absorption. Hickory's unique grain structure absorbs vibration so your wrists take less impact over long sessions.
Consistent feel. High-density hickory is more uniform — which means every pair feels the same in your hands, every time.
The industry standard — for good reason. Most professional drumstick brands use hickory. We just hold our sourcing to a stricter standard than most.
Density Matters
We select hickory specifically for density. Low-density wood gets rejected before it ever becomes a stick.
Grain Direction
Straight grain = stronger stick. We inspect grain direction as part of our selection and QC process.
Shock Absorption
Hickory absorbs more vibration than maple or oak — protecting your wrists during long, intense sessions.
North American Sourced
We source from North America — where hickory grows densest and most consistently for drumstick production.
OUR QUALITY STANDARDS

Every check exists for a reason. Here's what we test and why it matters to you.

Pitch Test
Checks internal wood integrity. Catches grain voids and weak points invisible to the naked eye. Every single pair is tested — no exceptions.
Roll Test
A warped stick throws off your stroke and your feel. Every stick is rolled on a flat surface to verify straightness before it ships.
Density Selection
We only use high-density hickory. Low-density wood gets rejected at the sourcing stage — before it ever enters production.
Visual Inspection
Surface finish, grain direction, and tip integrity are all checked by hand before packaging. What looks right has to feel right too.
Balance Check
Balance affects feel and playability. Sticks that don't meet our balance spec don't get packaged. Your muscle memory deserves consistency.
Final Approval
Only sticks that pass every test get packaged and shipped. There's no rounding up, no good enough. It meets the standard or it doesn't ship.
THE WOODIES PROMISE.

Every pair of Woodies sticks that arrives at your door has been pitch tested, roll tested, density selected, and quality checked. We don't cut corners because you don't play with corners cut. This is what you get when you order from us — every single time.
