Jazz, brushwork, soft rock, R&B, gospel, and any style where touch, speed, and dynamics matter. The 7A excels wherever subtlety and control are more important than raw volume. Studio work and low-volume practice also feel incredible with a 7A.
For high-volume genres like metal or hard rock, yes — the 7A isn't designed for that. But for most styles, the hickory's natural density at 0.9 g/cm³ gives you enough volume and projection. If you need more punch, the 5A or 5B are your next step up.
