GOT QUESTIONS?
The Red Rock It is specifically engineered for marching percussion. It's longer at 17", heavier at 5 oz, and wider at 0.728" diameter than a standard drumstick. That extra size gives you the projection and power you need for outdoor performances, stadium settings, and high-intensity rehearsals.
Absolutely. The Red Rock It's short taper gives a forgiving, front-weighted feel that's easy to control while still delivering the power marching percussion demands. Great for students learning proper technique and experienced drummers who need a reliable stick for the field.
They work great for both. The round wood tip gives you a clean, articulate sound on snares and practice pads whether you're on the field or in a rehearsal room. Many indoor percussionists also use them for their practice pad work between sessions.
Hickory absorbs shock better than any other common drumstick wood — critical for marching percussionists who play at high intensity for extended periods. It's durable enough to handle repeated hard hits and light enough to keep you from fatiguing during long rehearsals and competitions.

I got these sticks from the gracious recommendation of Steve-O the founder! And I went by what he said. He contacted me because I placed a large “variety “ order! I’m glad I did that order because now I have a nice conglomeration of “Woodies! (Of course I have my share of years of using Vic’s) So, immediately when I picked up the “Red Rocker’s” [Yes I’m a Sammy fan] —I loved the feel. The balance is awesome especially practicing snare with hats. Secretly, I confess I now carry a set of Red Rocker’s around with me everywhere I go! I’ll find something to drum! Also the added length and girth makes hitting the floor Tom’s so much easier. And, because of the Red Rock —It design, the Tom’s gain an entirely different tone; kinda between a timpani mallet (deeper) and an a sharp snap like any brand 2b. Every Drummer should own a pair!

I have been playing marching percussion for around 48 years even in the highly competitive Drum Corps scene. Having a great pair of sticks that are balanced and well made makes all the difference in the world out on the field. These sticks are excellent.

I have my upper battery using Woodies sticks. I have given them lots of choices from the big 3 plus Woodies. On their own, they gravitate to the Red Rock Its. I have yet to tape them. They have lasted a competition, football game, and 2 weeks of practices and sectionals. Durability isnt a question. They sound great. They feel like a cross of ScoJos (for velocity), Rennicks for control and Carters for response.

Ordered the woodies marching sticks after seeing an ad online. Running a drumline for a high school, we go through some sticks and I like to see what else is out there besides promark/vicfirth. Plus being the same nickname as our school (Woodstown Woodies) it was pretty cool. They're very well balanced and weighted. The texture is nice and they have some great playability. I let the kids on the drumline take them for a spin and they were a hit.

I was looking for a stick to build my chops and to practice rudiments and the like. Nicely weighted, nicely proportioned, and sturdy enough for decades of work (maybe I won't rimshot them to oblivion!).

I'm a metal drummer and play woodies, so this was an easy choice. Got them for my Daughter who's a percussionist in marching band. She absolutely loves them! Her band teacher and classmates all thought they were the coolest as well. She says they feel great and look great too.

These sticks seem pretty solid! I haven’t played much or bought many pairs in years but compared to an old unused, “name brand” pair I have for decoration, they seem a little lighter. Nothing some tape can’t fix, if I decide it’s needed. I thought about getting a couple pairs for my kids HS drumline but didn’t think the name of the marching sticks would go over well with the directors.

I am getting back into drumming after many years of "not enough time". Self taught so far, but am interested in starting lessons . The sticks i bought from Woodies are just what I needed. I purchased 3 pair of the marching sticks and a lighter pair. The marching sticks remind me of how long i have to go with practicing... lol. Quite the workout!! Excellent sticks. Buy them... you won't be disappointed!

Currently still using them now to get a deal with them for my drum line (Faiths Place Center for Arts and Education) But so far so good!

American Hickory Red Rock It Marching Sticks

Definitely a great feel and the way the drums sounds with these sticks are awesome. A lot of other sticks have a hollow sound. These sticks remind me of the old school patriot marching sticks. Sticks are even like other sticks one is heavy the other is hollow. I hope woodies stick around.

Love these sticks! Brings back memories of a time when I played in the High School Band. Good balance and just a great pair of sticks.
